Batya Adler was a normal tenth grader — giggling during assembly, fighting with her sister, and doing her fair share of complaining. Until that day.
After a fainting spell in class and all kinds of tests, the diagnosis was revealed: Kidney failure.
The shock was total: to Batya, to her family, to her friends and classmates. She would need dialysis at least three times a week, while keeping up with schoolwork, social life, and responsibilities at home.
